“Amy’s Castle… extreme concentration… laser focus… I’ll find Amy.” Bear growled, “Determination!
Dead ends beyond belief… I miss Amy.”
Bear saw this last castle before… Amy and the castle disappeared in front of his eyes. Amy’s Castle and Amy gone like birds in flight.
“Does everybody own a castle? I’ll find Amy’s Castle or someone who knows her.
King Richard desires to meet Amy… he needs a queen. Me, myself and I… ‘we’ want her safe.
Wow, look meerkat and red bird. Below… a small town.
This time I am asking directions. Yes, I know I’m male… not supposed to ask directions.”
The door hinges squeaked. The door opened to a store… general merchandise… A to Z can be bought here… the sign said.
“Amy’s Castle… directions to it. Somebody knows… hey you!
Red & Black Plaid Wool Shirt
You worked here awhile? Do you know the people around here?”
Bear asked questions of a man dressed in a red and black plaid wool shirt. The man didn’t say much.
“I know the people here… I don’t work here. Who you looking for?
I’m looking for Amy and Amy’s Castle. You heard of either?” asked Bear.
The hand belonging to the owner of the red and black plaid wool shirt rubbed the owner’s chin. He walked a few paces… turned around.
“Nope, don’t reckon I know Amy or Amy’s Castle. Never heard anyone talk of them either,” said the man.
How long you lived here? Do you know someone who would know her?” asked Bear.
“Our hamlet (town) so small everyone knows everyone. Sorry you’re asking the wrong people,” said the man.
“I am determined to find Amy and Amy’s Castle. I feel her thoughts,” said Bear.
Bear walked out the door with squeaky hinges. He paused outside the general store.
“Meerkat and red bird time to leave town. Nobody knows Amy or Amy’s Castle in the store… so we’ll walk towards that mountain.
I figure there’s castles unseen on that side of the mountain. Amy’s Castle could be one of them.
Look at these pine trees… Amy’s Castle hidden by them and the mountain? We’ll push onward.
We’ll find a place to camp for the night. It’ll turn colder as night falls.
We’ll build a fire… it’ll keep us warm. Keep the wolves away.”
The sun started to dip further on the western horizon. A red sunset as usual.
“Here… set up camp. Lots of firewood,” said Bear.
“The wolves howled to each other. They’ll stay away from fire.”
Bear broke branches and twigs to start the fire. Flames blazed high.
He turned his backside to the fire. Turned around and warmed his hands.
Bear, meerkat and red bird ate the left over food from King Richard’s castle. Nothing left for tomorrow.
Bear saw a river in the area. He’d go fish… they wouldn’t go hungry.
Red berries hung alongside the path. The fish and the berries fresh.
Bear stretched and yawned. His belly full… his eyes closed in sleep.
Bear stoked the fire. No logs would roll on the ground during the night.
Bear, meerkat and red bird sprawled on the ground. Time for sleep… they’d worked hard today.
Several times during the night Bear woke… checked the fire. He stirred the logs to keep flames going… protection against the wolves.
Next morning Bear fished the nearby river. He caught a large fish… enough for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Red bird and meerkat picked berries. Nutritious breakfast of fish and berries.
Bear went to the river for water. He filled their drinking canteens… drowned and stirred the fire… left no live embers.
Bear glad they didn’t make the mountain top. It would’ve been extremely cold last night.
Today they’d hike over the mountain top. Bear, meerkat and red bird… wheee… on a downhill run!
They’d celebrate! Their new life of freedom!
Bear’s dream of finding Amy and Amy’s Castle… his extreme focus. He envisioned Amy’s arms around him… Bear sighed deeply.
Bear could feel Amy’s presence… he knew her thoughts and feelings. She missed him too!
Amy’s Castle… determined concentration… extreme focus! Bear felt it!
Bird’s Eye View?
Bear, meerkat and red bird caught their breath at the base of the mountain. Adrenaline rush pushed them down the mountainside.
“I’ve never run so fast! Gravity pulled me down the mountain… what a wonderful bird’s eye view!
Did you see what I saw? There’s another castle a short distance from here.
Nicer castle than King Richard’s! Amy’s father’s brother… an inventor too… maybe the two inventors knew each other.
We need to be careful. No more extreme perfume from flowers… don’t need sleep and exhaustion.
Bear, meerkat and red bird watched the castle grounds before them. Many people crowded the grounds.
Very noisy crowd of people. Much talking and laughing… a festival?
“You stay here meerkat and red bird. I’m going to ask questions about Amy and Amy’s Castle.
“You from around here?” asked Bear. “Do you know the name of the castle and the owner?
Yes I live here. Amy’s Castle… owned by Amy.
Do you know Amy?” asked Bear. “Amy’s castle!” he added in amazement.
“Yes, I know Amy,” said the man. “What a wonderful princess.”
“Would you do me a favor?” asked Bear. “Tell her that her friend Bear has found her castle.”
“Yes, I will. I’ll do it now,” said the man.
Bear rushed over to meerkat and red bird. Out of breath… he couldn’t speak.
The sound of a bell chimed in Bear’s mind. Don’t need any distractions now thought Bear.
“We’ve found Amy’s Castle! He’ll get Amy for me!” said Bear.
“BearHugs all the way around. The threesome jumped for joy!
The happiest day of my life. I’ll see Amy!
“Look… a beautiful long gown dancing in the distance. Amy?
I must see her now,” said Bear. “It has to be Amy!
I’m almost crazy… I can feel her presence. Over there?
The servant told Amy, “Bear found the castle. Bear asks for you.
My long lost friend… Bear!” she exclaimed. “How I’ve missed him.”
She ran down the front castle steps. One of her slippers fell off.
She didn’t stop to pick up the slipper. She saw Bear in the distance.
She squealed in delight as she saw Bear. She ran faster.
Bear ran towards Amy. He could actually see her tiara.
They met in the middle of the courtyard. Hugs, tears… hugs, tears and more hugs, tears.
Amy told the servant as she left to see Bear… fix a nice meal. Amy knew Bear, meerkat and red bird were hungry.
“Bear I am so glad to see you. So long since we’ve been together.
I’ve missed you so much. Come inside… let’s share stories and a meal.
“I don’t see CharlieCat Amy?” asked Bear. “Where’s everyone else?
They are out of town. CharlieCat took them on his castle land adventure trip.”
Bear smiled. Contentment… Amy… he didn’t want to share Amy with anyone… he held her in a BearHug… see his signature hug above.
He’d already told meerkat and red bird to stay away. Amy and Bear wouldn’t be interrupted.
Amy & Bear stayed up all night exchanging stories. They didn’t sleep at all.
How many tears of joy cried? How many hugs exchanged? How many stories told? What happens with meerkat and red bird?
Bear Hugs ’til Our Next Adventure,
