“Eggs galore! I left my golden peacock egg here,” said Bear.
“Where’s my peacock egg? I told King Richard to keep it warm!” said Bear.
I need my golden egg! The baby peacock, the hatchling, is a gift for Amy!
White eggs extend beyond the horizon. I need sunglasses… the glare!”
Bear’s eyes glazed over. He stumbled around white eggs… all over the castle lawn!
Amy tried to help Bear. She bestowed BearHugs… sent him peaceful thoughts.
People gathered on King Richard’s castle lawn… talked excitedly. The white globes toasted by the sun.
“Warm eggs hatch soon,” groaned Bear. “My precious peacock golden egg lost?”
“Who says it’s a peacock egg?” asked Amy. “What’s your logic for your belief Bear?”
“I saw a peacock sit on something in the area. It’s a peacock egg,” said Bear.
Mystical Water Fountain
“I didn’t see any Easter bunnies around. They leave chicken eggs… colored ones too!
The color of my egg… golden? So tired… I hallucinated?
Everyone… heads up… look for my golden peacock egg! These eggs all the same color… white.
“I obeyed orders… washed all the eggs before I spread them over the lawn,” said the castle servant. “Did I wash off the gold?
Washed with mystical fountain water. No comparison found anywhere.”
Bear, dismayed, shook his head. “Eggs galore… all the same color… because someone washed them? What to do now?
How long before an egg hatches? How do I identify the hatchlings?”
Bear walked away from the castle. He couldn’t look at white eggs anymore!
He reached skyward! He wanted his golden peacock egg… Do It Now… his feet pounded the ground.
Return to Amy’s Castle
“Amy there aren’t any answers to my questions. I made a mistake bringing you here.
Amy I wanted to surprise you with a baby peacock. I surprised you with eggs galore… wrong!
Let me take you to your castle. I’ll bring the baby peacock hatchling soon.”
King Richard said, “Bear stay the night. You and Amy rest before the journey to her castle.”
King Richard invented problems delaying the departure of Amy and Bear. He couldn’t lose his future queen.
Amy spoke, “Sounds reasonable. I’d like to stay the night.
Bear said, “I admit I am tired. Let’s eat and rest… leave early tomorrow.”
King Richard ordered the castle servants, “Arrange extra meals for the day. Open the castle guest wing.
He heard King Richard speak to the servants. Bear smiled… his plan worked… royal treatment for the night.
“These guests deserve royal treatment. They entered the royal entrance instead of the flowered entrance that puts visitors to sleep.”
Amy and Bear feasted on gourmet foods. Bedtime followed.
King Richard escorted Amy and Bear to the grand staircase. He pointed to the upper left staircase.
“Left staircase… guest quarters for royalty. Bear the first doorway on the left… Amy the first doorway on the right.
You’ll find everything needed for a good night’s sleep. Need anything… ring the bell by your bedside… a servant responds to the bell.
Good night.” King Richard walked to the upper right side of the staircase. Whispering he said, “Amy, so beautiful… she’ll stay longer than one night… she’s my queen.”
Bear tossed and turned… no sleep. King Richard ordered the servants to put rocks under the mattress to disturb Bear’s sleep.
“Good morning Amy and Bear,” said King Richard. “Good breakfast?” asked King Richard.
He didn’t wait for an answer. He proceeded to inquire how they slept.
Bear said, “I slept well thank you King Richard. Amy told me the same for herself.”
King Richard wondered how Bear slept so well. He didn’t say anything… he knew his servants followed his orders.
Bear knew someone put rocks under his mattress… he looked when he couldn’t sleep. He slept on the carpeted floor… hard but better than pointed rocks.
Bear took care around King Richard… he sensed evil. He wished he hadn’t brought Amy to the King’s castle.
“We’re ready to leave. Have our horses been fed and watered?” asked Amy.
King Richard’s Kiss
King Richard said, “The horses are ready when you are. I’ll order them brought to the royal entrance.
I’ve ordered food packed for your journey. I hope you’ll return… I’ll send word when the eggs galore hatch.
King Richard said, “Amy… soon we meet again. Goodbye Bear.”
Amy offered her hand. King Richard bowed slightly… he held and lightly kissed her hand… slowly released her elegant hand back to her.
Bear would help Amy mount her horse. King Richard quicker than Bear… at Amy’s side in a flash.
“Amy may I help you mount your horse?” asked King Richard. “I don’t want you harmed in any way.”
Small bell chimed in Bear’s mind. Not much time to pay attention to the explosion in his mind.
Bear bristled because of King Richard’s last comment. The King took Bear’s normal place with Amy.
Mischief with the Horses?
Bear deliberately took deep breaths… slowed his thinking. Twice mischief delayed their departure… first the washed golden egg… second Bear’s sleep disturbed.
Loudly Bear said, “I need to check the horses. Their bridles, reins and horseshoes… safety needed for Amy.”
King Richard groaned inwardly. He sensed Bear understood King Richard’s plans to delay their departure.
Amy and King Richard stood side by side. Bear inspected Amy’s horse first.
“Amy’s horse… the bridle and reins perfect. Let’s see all four horseshoes… great condition.
Now my horse… let me check the same items. Bridle and reins perfect… same for the shoes… left front, right front, left rear… missing horseshoe nail… right rear horseshoe missing.
King Richard tell your farrier about the lost nail in the left rear shoe. Also about the lost right rear horseshoe.”
Bear knew their trip delayed on purpose. Would King Richard allow them to leave his kingdom?
Bear’s horse would’ve gone lame. The lame horse would’ve brought them back to King Richard and the castle again.
King Richard told the servants, “Take the horses. Add two places for lunch.”
King Richard turned to Amy, “I assure you proper care for the horses. I understand your anxiety to return to your castle and kingdom.”
King Richard lightly touched Amy’s elbow. He turned her towards the castle lawn.
Bear followed King Richard and Amy. He watched them carefully.
“What delay will be next? What evil forces… King Richard?” Bear whispered.
Eggs galore… quietly glistened in the warm sunshine on the castle lawn as King Richard, Amy and Bear walked near. They turned right… took the short cut to the grand dining room.
“Lunch served on the hour,” said King Richard. “The castle cook prepares a delicacy for our guests last lunch.
Unexpected delays infuriate you Bear?” asked King Richard. “Amy’s Castle soon in sight.
What evil forces delay Amy and Bear? Will the evil forces allow Amy and Bear out of sight? Will Bear spend time alone with Amy to tell her about his suspicions? King Richard evil? Castle cook prepares a delicacy at a moment’s notice?
