“Kissin’ Cousin… polar bear… teaches bear… who said that? Did you speak… you big white fur ball” asked Bear… “what is a Kissin’ Cousin?
A Kissin’ Cousin is nature’s gift to you Bear,” said the big white fur ball. I came to teach you… I’m a personalized gift.
The big white fur ball spoke again, “I’m a Kissin’ Cousin… a real live polar bear. I’m a bear… so are you!
Why are you here Kissin’ Cousin?” Bear asked. “I didn’t ask you to visit or teach me.
I’m here to teach you to cool down,” said Kissin’ Cousin. “You’re angry.
You’d be angry too Kissin’ Cousin if your home was destroyed,” said Bear. “It was destroyed… meerkat bounced off the cave walls… they collapsed.
I have reason to be angry!” said Bear. “I lost my home and my favorite lime green socks… meerkat’s fault.
Have you forgiven meerkat?” asked Kissin’ Cousin. Did you say, “I forgive you out loud.
No… why should I?” asked Bear angrily. “There’s no logic for that Kissin’ Cousin… he’s to blame.”
Kissin’ Cousin, the polar bear, shook his head. He said to himself… Bear is difficult to teach.
Kissin’ Cousin’s Smooches
“This is for my Kissin’ Cousin I am assigned to teach. Smooch,” the polar bear blew Bear kisses.
“Good thing I have this protective bubble. It travels well… I need armor from my angry Kissin’ Cousin.
I feel no love coming from this Kissin’ Cousin. His words are like a torch.
My Kissin’ Cousin is hot! Volcanic Kissin’ Cousin hot… he’s gonna blow… got to chill him.
Might be ice cubes or snow. Let’s see what’s here on this strange planet… earth.
I haven’t told Kissin’ Cousin my name yet. My name is Klondike… wonder if that will cool him off?
Nope not yet… he’ll think about a gold rush. I want Kissin’ Cousin to think ‘we’ not ‘me’.
Ohio Northern University… A Kissin’ Cousin?
I could ask for reinforcements from Ohio Northern University… they’re team players… they’re a type of Kissin’ Cousin. Their sports team is called Polar Bears… maybe the team will help me teach Kissin’ Cousin.
What do you want out of life Kissin’ Cousin? What is your definite major purpose?
Grrrrrr… out of my way with your ten dollar questions. I want a home… what do you think?
I want my friend Amy, her castle and our friends. I want everything like it was.”
Bear’s voice broke with emotion. He sounded angry… he almost cried.
“I understand,” Kissin’ Cousin said in a soothing voice. “I’m listening.
Bear stomped off angrily, “I’m taking red bird and meerkat with me… one in each fist. We need a home.
I’m not sure if I’m going the right way. I’m taking Bear’s Path like I used to… everything seems so different.
Amy and Castle!
Kissin’ Cousin a compass would help find true north. Put Bear’s Path in alignment for sure,” said polar bear.
“I’m using a compass. Something’s off… it’s not like it used to be,” said Bear.
“What if I told you a story Kissin’ Cousin? It’s a short story.”
“Sigh,” Bear stopped walking. “Tell me the story Kissin’ Cousin quickly… I need to look for Amy, the castle and our friends.
Klondike, the polar bear, responded, “Once upon a time there was a dragon. He exhaled angry flames.
His anger scared people. They stayed away from him.
Nowhere to turn for help because of his anger. The dragon wouldn’t listen to anyone.
They tried to tell him he was angry. The dragon got angrier when they told him about his anger.
One day someone helped him to understand his anger. He changed like a chameleon… he loved everyone… the anger was gone.
He learned to listen to people around him. Listening helped him more than talking.
That’s how an impossible world became friendly for the dragon. The dragon cooled down… he had a new life of peace.
That’s a happy ending for a dragon. What do you think of the story?” asked Klondike, the polar bear.
Meerkat… A Kissin’ Cousin?
“Do you think I’m angry polar bear, my Kissin’ Cousin? Do I run people away from me?” asked Bear.
“I don’t want to be alone. That is beary scary,” said Bear.
“Kissin’ Cousin you understand. You just asked a question… a great start!” said polar bear.
Don’t interrupt people… just listen. People want to help you… same as I do Kissin’ Cousin.
Are you afraid Kissin’ Cousin? Do you think I will leave you?
Yes I’m afraid Kissin’ Cousin… please don’t leave me. People have left me alone before,” said Bear.
“When people give you information do you listen? Do you think about what they tell you?” asked Kissin’ Cousin.
“They have been where you are so they can help you. They know ways to solve your problems.
Remember when we met, Kissin’ Cousin… I asked… have you forgiven meerkat? He is a Kissin’ Cousin too!”
Rose… A Kissin’ Cousin?
You said, Kissin’ Cousin, “there’s no logic in that”. Have you given my idea a fair chance Bear?” asked the polar bear.
Bear said, “Hmmm… looking at it a second time. I didn’t give it an honest chance Kissin’ Cousin.
Do you forgive? What is your process?” asked Bear.
Great snowballs… Klondike thought to himself…Kissin’ Cousin has started to ask questions. He is starting to cool off and think.
“Yes I ask forgiveness. After a recent encounter… I asked myself for forgiveness for my wrong doings… gave myself a rose for self love afterwards,” said Klondike.
“Sometimes it takes me a while to understand I need to ask forgiveness. Sometimes if the other person gives me a chance I say ‘please forgive me?’
This process clears the air. Life gives me roses.
Kissin’ Cousin am I taking the wrong path? I am willing to listen now,” said Bear.
“I want a new life for myself. Will you help me again?” asked Bear.
“Kissin’ Cousin… this is what I want you to do. Say after me… I choose forgiveness,” said Klondike the polar bear.
Bear said, “I choose forgiveness. Now what happens after I say that?
This is truth… Kissin’ Cousin… your life has been reset. You will see and feel a difference.”
The polar bear continued… “please let me know how your life changes. I want to know because I’m your Kissin’ Cousin.”
Reset with Forgiveness
Bear whistled happily as he walked Bear’s Path. He let red bird and meerkat go free.
Ooops… fear hit him again. He grabbed rid bird and meerkat… one in the left… the other in the right hand.
“Kissin’ Cousin… I need your help again. Bear’s Path feels weird,” said Bear.
What happened Bear? More anger?” asked polar bear.
“Yes. Anger… I don’t know why.
Bear’s Path went weird. It happened so fast,” said Bear.
“Kissin’ Cousin… this is what you do. Just like we did before… repeat after me… I choose forgiveness.
Your life will reset again. Bear’s Path will be easier.
The reset… choosing forgiveness… releases block’s from your life’s path. You’ll feel inner peace and people will notice a difference.”
Colorful Jet Trails
A small bell rang in the distance. Bear briefly turned his head to listen.
“So off you go. Bear, red bird and meerkat… happy trails and happy days are yours… on Bear’s Path,” said Klondike.
The big white fur ball in the colorful sphere zipped through the air. Kissin’ Cousin, the polar bear, left colorful jet trails on the earth’s horizon.
The polar bear pulled a release handle opening a trap door on the clear colorful sphere. The outside atmosphere pulled something out of the compartment then slammed the trap door shut.
Trailing behind Klondike… a clothes line. Bear saw lime green socks waving like small flags.
Bear jumped up and down… Kissin’ Cousin was right… his life was changing. Lime green socks were descending from the sky!
“My favorite lime green socks are falling at my feet. Amy, the castle and our friends will appear soon in my life!” said Bear.
Klondike, the polar bear, had finished his work with his Kissin’ Cousin, Bear. The polar bear flew high above… sight unseen, polar bear smooched kisses to the trio below, Bear, red bird and meerkat.
Will Bear, red bird and meerkat have happy trails like the teams at Ohio Northern University? Will they remember they are Kissin’ Cousins? What else do they need to remember?
BearHugs ’til our next adventure,
