“Night Mare… nightmare… horse afire? Night Mare… black as midnight… soft as velvet,” said YorkieBear. “What a horse!”
Amy thought to herself, “What on earth is he sleep talking about tonight? Night Mare… nightmare… horse afire?”
She wondered outloud… “Should I tell him that I published his nightmare last week.”
“There were nice comments on the story… he is creative… I recorded him.”
“For now I will keep recording… he has interesting sleep talks… maybe he’ll talk more about Night Mare.”
“Wow maybe I will have this weeks story talked out for me by YorkieBear! Nice… don’t have to work so hard.
“Night Mare… black as midnight… soft as velvet. Sounds like great lyrics for a song.”
“She whispered in YorkieBear’s sleeping ear… sing a song about black Night Mare.”
YorkieBear woke up. Startled he said, “What are you doing here? My black Night Mare should be here not you.”
Night Mare… Nightmare
“Night Mare and I were riding to rescue some ice people. What a view… the colors we saw were beautiful!”
“Amy you interrupted our rescue of the ice people. How are they going to defrost?”
“YorkieBear I am asking you a serious question? What did you eat last night before you went to bed?”
“Amy I don’t know what your problem is but what I ate has nothing to do with this.”
“I think your dreams have to do with indigestion,” said Amy. “As a matter of fact Night Mare seems to be a nightmare.”
“My stomach is fine… I am great… never been healthier in my life.”
“Seems to me Night Mare the horse is a scary nightmare just by the sounds you make sleeping.
“Now Amy go away… do it now! Get out of my dream! I want Night Mare to come back so we can rescue the ice people… ride away… right away too!”
YorkieBear’s River Ride
YorkieBear rode along the river on black Night Mare. Such a beautiful country… not a care in the world.
Amy laughed as YorkieBear snored. “Can’t laugh too loud I’ll wake him up… maybe he’ll start talking in his sleep again. Snoring is much better than his screams were!”
Splashing noises as they crossed the river to the other side. The water was fast and deep… Night Mare swam with all her might… YorkieBear riding her back.”
“Up… up… you can do it,” YorkieBear was yelling in his sleep… went back to snoring… he was calm again.
Night Mare and YorkieBear climbed up onto the other river bank… they could see the ice people again.
YorkieBear stood tall in the saddle… “Night Mare I can feel a shift in the weather… the wind is changing directions.”
“The sun is starting to set… we need to look for a place to spend the night.”
“Look at that sunset.. incredible colors! Wow it’s like the old west… we are riding into the sunset!
“Night Mare only stalllions are supposed to rear up on their hind feet like that,” said YorkieBear.
“YorkieBear with a sunset like that don’t you think the profile of me, Night Mare, looks awesome?”
“Especially as I am stretching out to show off my beautiful black proportions,” said Night Mare.
“Maybe I should snort fire out of my nostrils? What do you think YorkieBear?”
“You are a horse not a fire breathing dragon Night Mare.”
“We need fire YorkieBear how else are we going to melt the ice people?”
“Ok, Night Mare… we need to melt the ice people.”
“So how do we get you to breathe fire Night Mare?”
“I think we need to get a fire breathing dragon to teach me how… that’s how!”
Who Carries Who?
“Finding a fire breathing dragon how do we do that Night Mare?” asked YorkieBear.
“Oh it’s easy… you do just like you would for a dog… you whistle,” said Night Mare.
“Just stand and whistle… they’ll come running… it works for dogs… it’ll work for dragons.”
“Night Mare what if every fire breathing dragon shows up? If they set you on fire teaching you what you gonna do?”
The black star filled sky crackled wtih white lightning. The noise was incredible.
Thunder echoed through the canyon walls. The colors of the countryside changed eerily.”
The wind tore through the canyon pushing loose tree limbs… jammed them into a narrow passage.
Night Mare and YorkieBear froze as if they were ice people. The lightning struck tree limbs… created a roaring fire canyon.
Night Mare jumped into YorkieBear’s arms… “I’m afraid… carry me.”
“Nope,” YorkieBear said and jumped on Night Mare‘s back “You carry me… out… fast.”
YorkieBear woke up thirsty. “Amy I am on fire… I need some water?”
Amy watched YorkieBear… yes he’d be thirsty with all the screaming and thrashing around he had done in bed.
I’ll remake his bed while he gets water. “Look at these bed linens… twisted in knots… I’ll never get them straightened out.”
“This does it… I am fixing the meals from now on… I think he is causing all of this fuss with all of his gourmet cooking,” Amy said as she tried to untwist the linens.
“I don’t care how nice the comments are on the stories… this is not worth it… these linens are a disaster.”
“Too late tonight to fix… he’ll have to sleep with the twists and knots.”
“YorkieBear glad you came back to bed. Did you heat up some milk and drink it?”
How to Put Out Fires?
“There’s my pillow on the floor. Let me hug you pillow… you are Night Mare… we ride into the wilderness.”
“Snore, snore and snore some more.”
“No story is worth this snoring… I’m sleeping on the couch,” said Amy.
“Night Mare come here… whistle, whistle and whistle… why won’t you come here?” asked YorkieBear.
“Amy said whistles worked… that dogs responded… why aren’t you?”
“Thanks to you I am now a firey red horse! See?” said Night Mare.
“Night Mare stand next to the ice people… I see ice melting.”
“Wow look at that they are laughing and dancing. They are happy.”
“They are what they should be full of life, love, laughter and happiness thanks to you Night Mare.”
“Only one problem… how to put my fires out?”
What if we were to turn on the lights to end the nightmare… would that put the fires out?
Any other ways we can help them?
