“Amy did you tell them they could do this? You must have… no I don’t share my home with anyone!” said Bear.
“Bear I’ve never seen this side of you before. You know we share.
May I tell our readers what happened? This is very important to me.
Sure Amy go ahead and tell them. Me, I was just doing my job… you know I am your bodyguard.
Bear relax! Sometimes you are too intense about doing your job.
I need your help. Breathe deeply and calmly as we tell your fan club what’s going on.
Several days ago we noticed two mourning doves hanging around the balcony. They were flying around other balconies also.
Then they choose a spot on our balcony. It is where a purple planter sits… it has dormant flower bulbs in it.
Evidently the doves felt it would make a great nest. The female started building a nest… the male would bring her
small twigs and more items to build the nest.
Nest building done. The doves have taken turns sitting.
Sitting? Are there eggs… how many?
Bear added, “I have been seranding them. Without doubt that is why they stayed… they like the songs I bark.
“Weekly I change the nectar in a hummingbird feeder about three feet from the dove’s nest. If the nectar isn’t changed the hummingbirds end up with bent and broken bills.
“So how do we keep the doves happy and on their nest? And how do we keep the hummingbirds healthy and fed?
“Bear you must be doing a great job. We now have two baby doves!”
Look for more action to unfold as we watch the mama, daddy and baby doves this week.
Would anybody like to give them names?
BearHugs ’til next week,
Amy & Bear
