“Falling star! Amy look… it lit up the whole sky.
“Yes Bear,” said Amy “It’s no longer night. Magically we stand in daylight!
Amy as we flew there was nothing like this… I wonder why? This is dynamite!
The stars we flew by were dull compared to this one! I want more brilliance and flying.
We will Bear… we will. But first remember we have an appointment to keep.
It’s important in life to keep your word. We want to have sterling character references.
Do what we say. So people will trust us.
When people like us, get to know us they’ll start to trust us. Actions speak louder than words.
So we’re off to the tea party. It starts in 30 minutes… if we are 15 minutes early we can meet people and make friends before the party starts.
The invitation said come as you are. We don’t need to dress up.
“Look at this beautiful tea cup. Mmm… soothing chamomile tea… my favorite.”
Amy opened the tea bag and put it in the china cup. Poured hot water from the matching tea pot.
“Delightful herb butters… for these small crackers. Delicate slices of cheese, carrots, and celery.
A light snack. We’ll enjoy this as we talk.
You saw the falling star also? Wasn’t that dynamic?
Bear this is Dr. Penguin. We just talked about the falling star… he saw it too.”
Amy, Bear and Dr. Penguin sat at a small table on the grass lawn at their host’s home.
Their host, A.J., was a famous writer. He loved small parties to breakup the solitary lifestyle he lived.
The writer flitted back and forth like a butterfly. He introduced everyone to each other.
A.J. overhead the conversation about the falling star. He happily introduced the trio to an astronomer.
“Yes, we saw the shooting star. Unusual… no advance warning.
Yes I am a professional star watcher. My team and I know what’s happened in the skies.
Do you fly?” Bear asked the astronomer. “Do you talk to the stars?
We watch the planets and stars from the ground. We follow them around with telescopes… best done at night.
Their habits are routine. Except this last falling star… very unusal.
Nice talking to you. Hope we can connect again,” Amy said as the party broke up.
“Thank you for inviting us to your party. We enjoyed it… see you sometime soon,” commented Bear.
Reach for the Stars!
Away from the party, Bear said, “Well how interesting. We aren’t the only star watchers.
Amy let’s be more aware as we fly around. We’ll be closer to the action… maybe we can talk to the stars.
They must know everything. They’re up so high they see everything happening.
Hear the thunder before anyone. See the lightning before we do… fascinating.
Maybe they know angels. At least talk with the winds.
Talk to the trees? Laugh with the flowers?
Let’s go star cruising right now. I can see us in action… reaching for the stars… they reach back!
Bear there’s a problem. It’s daylight… we need to go at night,” said Amy.
“There goes a hummingbird. Look at him… I wish I were him,” said Bear.
There was a brilliant flash of light. A low pitched sound.
“Bear your wish was granted. Look at you… small wings pounding the air.
Your beautiful jewel like colors. You’re diving and dashing through the air.”
The hummingbird buzzed Amy. He flew through her hair.
Flew by again. Toyed with her scarf as he passed by.
Next pass. The scarf lifted from Amy… tossed into the air by the hummingbird.
The scarf flew momentarily. Beautiful colors streamed in the air.
“This is fun,” twittered the hummingbird. “Come join me Amy!”
Outshine the Stars!
“Wonderful Bear. You’re an aeronautical wonder because of your wings… like a butterfly.
I wonder how long the air acrobatics will last. I love watching you do touch ‘n roll.
Your wings flash. Your colors dance.
You’re fascinating to watch. Light on your feet!
Tonight you fly with the stars. Shoot with the falling stars!
I’ll watch for you tonight. You’ll be the brightest in the sky with this.”
Amy handed Bear a turquoise colored stone band. She created it while he flew around.
“Slip it over your head. Tap it when you want it glow.
Tap three times. You’ll outshine all the stars… you’ll be unique!
Now take a nap. You’re going to need the energy tonight!
Amy decided to recreate the tea party. It was a private party for her and Bear.
It was to celebrate Bear’s new lifestyle. His dashing new hummingbird personality.
“What herbs shall I use for the herb butters? Yes, delicate… like thyme.
Colors to match his jewel like colors. Brilliant red berries as the centerpiece… on a bed of rosemary.
Fine china teacups… matching teapot! They match these blue dishes!
Small plates filled with crackers and sliced vegetables. Cheese yes, many different types!
This will make Bear smile when he wakes up. Last night he chased stars… danced with them too!”
Amy set up the party as she continuted to talk outloud to herself. She wanted to surprise Bear.
“Maybe next time I’ll invite guests. We really need to make some friends.”
“Flowers oh I forgot the flowers. I need to go prune the rose bushes.
They’ll make a nice addition to the red berries on the rosemany. Where are my pruning shears and gloves?”
Amy wandered off in search of the pruning shears. The gloves were because of the thorns on the rose bushes.
“Yes a delightful bouquet. Red roses!
She poured water into a small vase. The roses were added.
“Perfect addition for a beautiful tea party! Now I’ll go wake Bear.
Where is he? He was asleep… right here.
I can’t find him. Wonder where he went.”
Dr. Penguin strolled by Amy and Bear’s place. He whistled as he walked.
“Have you seen Bear?” asked Amy. “Dr. Penguin if you see him tell him to come home now.”
“Actually Amy Bear passed me by looking for you. Told me to tell you he was leaving for the night.
Thank you Dr. Penguin. Have a nice walk.
I know this food will keep.” Amy continued to talk to herself… “This nice cloth will cover everything until breakfast.”
Bear woke Amy up. Amy rubbed her eyes.
It was early dawn. The birds twittered.
“I brought home company. Don’t look just yet… I want you to guess who I brought home.
Without opening her eyes Amy could see a brilliant glow. She could feel a slight warmth.
Who did Bear bring home? A falling star?
Is Amy angry at Bear for not attending the party?
